Gears of War: E-Day Golden Quarter Horde Map

Golden Quarter is the only Horde Siege map available during Gears of War: E-Day’s August Open Beta — Early Access August 6–10 and General Open Beta August 13–17. Set in Kalona’s historic district after the opening battle, it mixes classic Gears landmark architecture with sprawling 12-player lanes where three squads of four chase separate R.I.G. objectives on the same stage. Launch will ship three Horde maps; treat Golden Quarter as your forever training ground for extract discipline and class kits.

Why the map is the battle

The Coalition describes Horde Siege maps as part of the fight — debris, micro-destruction cover, and leftover fortifications from other squads change mid-session. On Golden Quarter you will:

• Cross paths with two other four-player squads mid-objective
• Contest Supply Caches, Perk Caches, and Weapon Part Stockpiles that aggro Locust
• Rotate between Secure, Calibrate, Repair, Defend, and Horde-style R.I.G. beats
• Survive Invasion Events (beta features two bosses such as Corpser / Brumak pressure)
• Finish on a Raven landing zone before Parts and Crush the Bug extracts bank

Call mid, plaza, alley, and pad early so random matchmaking teams share language.

Horde Siege Mode Breakdown for E-Day

First-run checklist (General Open Beta)

1. Lock a class before drop — Siege Classes.
2. Mark the first R.I.G. node and nearest Supply Cache.
3. Assign one player to watch E-Hole lips while others push Secondary Objectives.
4. Save Stim / Injector cooldowns for Invasion Event spikes.
5. Never skip Raven — Parts and Crush the Bug extract counters require boarding — How to Extract.

R.I.G. and Energy habits

Energy from Supply Caches fuels objective tools. Over-committing to a contested cache while your R.I.G. decays fails the mission even if your K/D looks fine. Prefer:

Cover and movement on Golden Quarter

Micro-destruction means plaza walls vanish under Lancer and Gut Puncher fire. Slide into new cover instead of camping the first barricade. Vertical balconies help Marksman, but Breachers who overextend without Medic Stim fail extracts. Practice chains from Movement & Cover and reticle-near reload from Active Reload.

Reward grind routes

Golden Quarter is the Crush the Bug farm map for eight Infantry+ extracts, revive emblem progress, and Prototype Lancer execution icons. Progress carries from Early Access into General Open Beta on the same account — finish unfinished medals before August 17 10:00 AM PT. Full table: Open Beta rewards.
