Gears of War: E-Day Energy, Supply Caches, Squad Perks
Shared Energy, personal spending, perk upgrades, and why extract is the only bank.
Horde Siege in Gears of War: E-Day runs on a shared Energy pool and a map full of Supply Caches. The official multiplayer deep dive calls the loop Save n’ Pay: the squad earns Energy together, then each Gear spends it alone. This page is the economy guide — caches, Squad Perks, grenade-versus-gadget slots, detachable turrets, COG Resupplies, and why Weapon Parts vanish if nobody boards the Raven.
Read it with Horde Siege, How to Extract, Weapon Mods, and Golden Quarter callouts. Last-day extract farms still need this discipline: a rich cache spend that wipes on the pad is a wasted Crush the Bug run.
Energy is shared, spending is not
Kills and objectives feed one squad Energy pool. Opening a Supply Cache shows your shop: class, level, and the mods you already own. Two Assaults will not see identical pages if their unlocks differ. That is why a four-stack should talk before everyone buys a grenade.
Energy also scores the mission. Secondary Objectives and events are worth the detour if they do not get you killed. Dying for a cache while the R.I.G. is undefended is a net loss even if the purchase looks strong.
Equipment and grenades share a slot. A sentry or decoy replaces Frags or Incendiaries. Decide the next objective: Defend and Horde waves like gadgets; a push to Secure or a Power Core delivery often wants grenades.
Energy also buys and upgrades turrets at marked defenses. Turrets can be detached and carried as a heavy — useful when the next R.I.G. is a street over and the static nest is about to be irrelevant.
What a Supply Cache is for
Use caches to:
- Buy a weapon mid-mission when your starter kit is wrong for the next objective
- Upgrade Squad Perks (in-session buffs that expire when the mission ends)
- Grab equipment or grenades
- Revive from COG tags — teammates (and other squads) deliver tags to a cache to bring you back. Other-squad pickups can even revive you instantly. See extract and tag flow on How to Extract.
Invasion Events can disable Supply Caches while a Corpser or Brumak is up. Do not path to a dead cache for a revive during Invasion Events. Wait for the modifier to drop or finish the boss with the other two squads.
Squad Perks vs Weapon Parts
Squad Perks are the temptation. They make the current run easier and then disappear. Weapon Parts are the long game: they buy Weapon Mods on your class track, including toys like a Gnasher bayonet. Parts only bank if at least one squadmate extracts. A hero wipe after a perfect Parts haul is a zero.
Class XP still arrives for a failed mission, but it is partial and it resets at launch anyway. In Open Beta, treat Parts and extract counters as the real currency; treat Perks as tools to reach the Raven.
Secondary Objectives pay Parts, free gear, and Perk chances. Typical tasks: defuse Locust explosives, kill a High Value Target, collect COG intel, or deliver a Power Core to another squad’s R.I.G. Helping the neighbors is not charity — it is a mid-wave buff and a Parts ticket if you live.
COG Resupplies
Free map events, three flavors, all of them attract Locust:
| Type | What you get | Catch |
|---|---|---|
| Supply Drop | Free equipment and modded weapons, any player | Loud, contested |
| Perk Cache | Three squad perks; best perk to the first squad | Race the other two fours |
| Weapon Part Stockpile | Parts, but needs coordination with other squads | Do not solo it and wipe |
If two squads are already fighting a stockpile, the third should either commit together or ignore it and stay on the R.I.G. Greed is how Blitz extracts die.
Leftovers from other squads
Horde Siege is a rolling battlefield. Fortifications and gear left by a squad that already extracted can become your nest. Scavenge before you spend Energy duplicating a turret they abandoned. That is also why you should not strip a lane bare if another squad is two minutes behind you on the same map — their fight is still part of yours when an Invasion lands.
Last-day Open Beta spending
If you are still hunting eight Infantry+ extracts before August 17 at 10:00 AM PT:
- Prefer Blitz. Short missions mean more Raven boards per hour.
- Spend Energy on survival to the pad, not on a perk you will never reuse.
- Keep enough mobility to reach the LZ after an Invasion blocks caches.
- Assign one player to tag duty so a cache revive is possible.
- Do not start a Stockpile with two minutes on the extract clock.
After the beta, the same economy returns on three launch Horde maps. Class 30 will fill the cache shop with more rows. Your beta Parts and perk unlocks do not carry; the habit does. Beta vs Launch.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers for Emergence Day prep and launch week.
Is Horde Siege Energy shared with the whole squad?
Earning is shared. Spending is personal. Each player sees cache options based on their class and unlocks, so talk before four people buy the same grenade.
Do Squad Perks carry to the next mission?
No. Squad Perks expire at the end of the mission. Weapon Parts persist only if at least one squadmate successfully extracts.
Can another squad revive me from a Supply Cache?
Yes. Other players can deliver your COG tags to a cache, and other-squad pickups can revive you instantly. Invasion Events may disable caches while a boss is active.
What are COG Resupplies?
Optional map events: Supply Drops, Perk Caches, and Weapon Part Stockpiles. They attract Locust. Perk Caches give the best perk to the first squad; stockpiles need multi-squad coordination.
Should I spend Energy right before extract?
Only on tools that help you board the Raven. Perks do not survive the mission, and a wipe on the pad wastes Weapon Parts and Crush the Bug extract credit.
