Gears of War: E-Day Tier Lists & Meta Rankings

Pre-launch theorycraft for weapons and Horde Siege classes—updated after Open Beta and launch patches.

Tier List Hub

Gears of War: E-Day tier lists on this wiki are built for players who want a head start before October 6, 2026 without pretending we already know a settled competitive meta. The Coalition and People Can Fly have confirmed core weapons — the Gnasher shotgun, Longshot sniper rifle, Gut Puncher timed-detonation grenade launcher, Incinerator Imulsion shotgun, and the Chainsaw Lancer prototype — plus four Horde Siege classes: Assault, Marksman, Medic, and Breacher. Everything here is labeled pre-launch theorycraft until Open Beta data (August 6–10, 2026) and post-launch patches reshape balance.

Use this hub as your index. Each child page goes deeper on a single topic and cross-links siblings so you never bounce between unrelated guides.

What you will find here

The Weapons Overview page walks through every revealed firearm with role notes, range bands, and how Active Reload and shell-by-shell reload interrupts change their ceiling in campaign, Horde Siege, and Versus 4v4. It includes a gameplay breakdown video for visual learners who want to see Kalona firefights before the beta opens.

The Weapon Tier List assigns S, A, and B theorycraft tiers based on preview footage, developer comments, and franchise history — not live win-rate statistics. Tiers will move after the Open Beta; bookmark the page and revisit when Updates posts patch notes.

Horde Class Builds translates those weapons into class-specific loadout advice for Assault, Marksman, Medic, and Breacher players. Pair it with the Horde Siege guide for objective callouts and multi-squad coordination, and with Bravo Squad character backgrounds if your party assigns roles by personality rather than kit.

Pre-launch disclaimer

No ranking on this hub claims final truth. E-Day runs on Unreal Engine 5 with micro-destruction cover, redesigned movement, and Feral Locust variants that punish predictable camping. A Longshot that dominates Kalona rooftops in preview reels may lose value if spawn logic changes in Horde Siege. Similarly, the Incinerator Imulsion shotgun looks like an S-tier Breacher pick until gut-punch grenade tuning shifts.

We update tiers in this order: official patch notes first, credible beta feedback second, and preview theory last. If a tier feels wrong during your August sessions, trust your lobby — then check back here after we reconcile community reports with documented changes.

How tiers are judged (preview criteria)

Until live data exists, each weapon or class entry considers:

  • Consistency — Does the tool work in most Kalona engagements without perfect setup?
  • Skill expression — Does Active Reload or timed detonation reward practice without hard-failing newcomers?
  • Mode flexibility — Can the same loadout contribute in campaign E-Holes, Horde Siege objectives, and Versus 4v4?
  • Team synergy — Does the pick help Medics stabilize or Assault players entry without stealing roles?

F-tier labels are intentionally absent pre-launch. Every revealed weapon fills a niche; bad rankings usually mean wrong context, not useless gear.

Movement and cover fundamentals live in How to Play: Movement & Cover. Campaign players should read Campaign Co-op before min-maxing weapons solo. Redeem any Open Beta cosmetics on the codes hub and run the beta checklist so your settings match the assumptions in our class build notes.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers for Emergence Day prep and launch week.

Are these E-Day tier lists final?

No. All rankings are pre-launch theorycraft based on official reveals and franchise history. Open Beta feedback and launch patches will move weapons and classes between tiers.

Which tier list page should I read first?

Start with Weapons Overview if you do not know the kit yet. Move to Weapon Tier List for quick S/A/B picks, then Class Builds if you main Horde Siege.

Do tier lists cover Horde Siege classes?

Yes. Class Builds ranks Assault, Marksman, Medic, and Breacher loadouts and links to the Horde Siege guide for objective strategy.

When will tiers update after beta?

We revise child pages after August 6–10 Open Beta sessions and again at the October 6 launch. Watch the Updates hub for patch notes that force immediate re-ranks.
