Gears of War: E-Day What the Beta Includes vs Launch

Golden Quarter, Market, and Outpost are a subset — here is what October 6 adds.

Beta vs Launch Content

The official Open Beta FAQ is blunt: August content is a subset of launch. Players who only queue Golden Quarter, Market, and Outpost this week will meet a larger game on October 6, 2026. This page is the side-by-side so you do not treat beta caps, two Versus maps, or missing campaign as the finished product — and so you know which cosmetics you already earned will still be waiting after the August 17 shutdown.

Playlist rules and class kits: Horde Siege and Versus modes. Map names: Kalona maps. Access recap: Open Beta schedule.

Both August weekends used the same subset. Early Access was not a different mode list — it was an earlier door for pre-orders and Game Pass Ultimate / PC Game Pass.

Horde Siege: what you already learned still applies

Golden Quarter taught the real loop: three squads of four, R.I.G. objectives (Secure, Calibrate, Repair, Defend, Horde), shared Energy, Supply Caches, Secondary Objectives, Poisons after boss waves, and a Raven extract. Launch keeps that loop and spreads it across three city maps. Post-launch Horde maps are promised as free updates, not paid map packs.

Playlists you should expect at launch, as published in the July 30 multiplayer deep dive:

  • Blitz — 15–20 minutes, one or two objectives
  • Siege — 20–40 minutes, more traversal
  • Horde — up to 50–60 minutes, ten waves on one R.I.G.

Difficulty names in that article are Infantry, Commander, and Allfather, scaled to class level. The Crush the Bug challenge required Infantry or higher, which is why last-day farms stay on that badge. Class 30 at launch unlocks the higher recommended brackets; your beta class rank does not carry.

Invasion Events still pull all three squads. Read Invasion Events before you assume a Brumak is a Golden Quarter-only gimmick.

Versus: two maps were the test, not the roster

If your Gnasher habits formed on Market alleys and Outpost bunkers, keep them — both maps return in the launch six. The missing four are Battleship, Park, Precinct, and Skyward. Modes expand from the beta pair to the full set:

  • Team Deathmatch — elimination with dynamic respawns
  • Conquest — hold rotating zones
  • Demolition — plant at one of two enemy sites
  • Crucible — control a Power Core inside marked zones

Fair starts and identical loadouts stay. Weapon Mods remain Horde / PvE — do not expect your bayonet Gnasher build in Ranked. Aim-assist rules from the August 12 notes still matter: default assist in Versus, Snap Aim and Lock-On for Campaign and Horde only. Details: Aim Assist Settings.

Campaign and co-op are launch-only

The August client is a multiplayer beta. Bravo Squad’s Emergence Day story, E-Hole set pieces, and split-screen nights are not something you “missed” this weekend — they arrive with the full game. Campaign Co-op and How to Close E-Holes are the prep pages. Character context: Bravo Squad.

Progression reset is intentional

Beta class kits and Player Level exist so The Coalition can tune XP and medal curves. Cosmetics you unlocked are the souvenir; ranks are not. At launch you start the live progression system toward Player Level 100, four Re-Ups, class 30, and Season 1: Emergence. Nearly all cosmetics stay earnable by play — E-Day does not ship a traditional battle pass. Roadmap: Seasons roadmap.

Pre-order Exfil skins are a separate entitlement from beta challenges. Do not confuse them with Crush the Bug. See pre-order rewards.

Platforms and Game Pass do not change with the beta close

Launch platforms remain Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam, and Game Pass day one, with Xbox Play Anywhere between console and PC. Console online multiplayer still expects Game Pass Essentials or higher at launch, matching the beta FAQ. Steam still does not require a Microsoft account except for cross-platform squad invites. Cross-play and platforms & Game Pass stay accurate after August 17.

PC storage is the one number that grows: beta packages were about 80 GB on an SSD (mechanical HDDs unsupported after Weekend 2). Steam’s launch listing still cites about 130 GB. Specs: PC system requirements.

How to use this page after the beta

When friends ask “is that all Horde is?” send them here, then to Horde Siege. When they ask “why only two Versus maps?” send the table above. When they ask “did I waste my time?” send Open Beta rewards — the cosmetics were the point of the grind, not the class bar.
